A doctorate makes it possible to carry out independent scientific work and demonstrates the highest level of competence in the European Qualifications Framework. 

For example, if you want to pursue a career in research or at a university, a doctorate is mandatory.

Admission to the doctoral programme requires a Master's degree.

Our cooperation partners also offer Master's degree programmes in distance learning and so you can also get advice on Master's degree programmes through VIS.

 For most students, the master's degree is the highest educational qualification; they enter professional life with this very good academic education.

However, those who are interested in an academic career can also do a doctorate.

In Austria and in some federal states of Germany, but also in Great Britain, there are study programmes that are open to professionally experienced students with degrees other than Bachelor.

 After graduating with a bachelor's degree, you can enter professional life or follow up with a master's degree.

However, many graduates first gain professional experience before they think about further studies.

You need a university entrance qualification: Matura/Abitur.

In Germany, certified master craftsmen, e.g. bakers, butchers, electricians, ... can also start a Bachelor's degree without entrance qualification.

The training as a business economist of the Chamber of Commerce or Fachwirt of the Chamber of Crafts allows the Bachelor studies in Germany, but also at Austrian universities of applied sciences or British universities.
